You Are Not Alone

I never knew

Pain

Could help me gain

Such a truth

That even when I hurt

I am not alone

This is my new power

And since power is gained

Only by sharing it

I’ll tell you

You are not alone

Your heart may have forgotten how to sway

Because love

Has lost its way

But you are not alone

Cancer, diabetes, maybe covid or just some random disease

Might have unsaddled your ease

Leaving only restless nights

But you are not alone

The color of your skin may trap you

In a reality that feels dated

Which is why you feel hated

Making it a struggle to let your guard down

But you are not alone

New beginnings

Might seem like nothing more than a ruse

Because life

Has robbed your muse

And left you colorless

But you are not alone

In a crowd where you are your own shoulder

Someone else needs you

To lean on

So, if you share you

It, too

Becomes your power

And since power is gained

Only by sharing it

Share it

And tell them

Pain

Doesn’t feel the same

When you realize

You are not alone.
